The Selection book review

The Selection book review

In the country Illea, the Selection is an elaborate competition. The prize is prince Maxon’s hand in marriage. When America Singer is chosen to compete, she starts to realize she loves Maxon. Will prince Maxon reciprocate her feelings or will she be rejected?

I think “The Selection” is a great book for young adults and mature readers. Although it has lots of pros it also has some stand out cons. For example I felt the story moved really slow especially during the part of the book when America was applying for the selection. In my opinion this could have been an easy fix by not putting in so much extra unneeded information. This book is definitely a book for mature and older readers. It has some content that is not appropriate for young children.

I really enjoyed reading this book as I thought the storyline was very dramatic made me want to finish the book series. This book was very detailed in how the characters personalities act toward each other. This makes you feel strongly about which characters you like and which you hate. The book pulls you into feeling like you are there listening to everything happening. I also really love this book because the main character America is a strong young lady that stands up for what she believes in and makes sure that everyone is doing the right thing. America reminds me of myself in the case that she is strong and independant. I think a perfect example of this is when America says “ No I’m not choosing him or you. I’m choosing me.”
